Message from Mark Greathead

As a member of our community, a parent of two Woodhaven-Brownstown School District children, and as its Superintendent of Schools, I am extremely proud of our school district. Our community is one that values its children and demonstrates that through tremendous support of the school district. The dedicated and professional staff of the WBSD thanks you for your support by providing the children of our community with the best educational experience possible.

Our Vision for the District is “Learning and Leading for Tomorrow” and our Mission is “Engage. Enlighten. Empower.” Together, our Vision and Mission Statements provide purpose and set direction for greater school improvement.

In spite of the ongoing fiscal challenges in the state, and in turn, in school districts, the schools in the WBSD continue to do excellent work. Recently, two of our schools, Woodhaven High School and Gudith Elementary School, were named as “Reward Schools” by the Michigan Department of Education for being in the top 5% of all public schools in improving student achievement. Because of the partnerships and teamwork in our District, this is a distinction that all in the WBSD community can be proud of.   

Woodhaven-Brownstown residents have overwhelmingly supported our schools by passing a $90 million Bond issue in 2002 and renewing a $10 million/10 year sinking fund in 2011. This support has transformed the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District so that it now features renovated and updated facilities that provide a safe and enriching learning environment that compliment the community as well.
